About our company
Stonelake Corp is the parent company that owns and operates McDonald’s franchisee Dunedin restaurants.
Franchisee Owners, Justin and Eterei Stonelake actively work alongside their dedicated team to ensure every customer has a great experience when visiting a McDonald’s store in our region, if you ever feel this hasn’t been the case, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
Over the past eleven years the Dunedin McDonald’s Ambassador team have raised in excess of $2 million through the efforts of the Dunedin Supper Club to provide Kiwi families with emotional, financial and practical assistance whilst their child is in hospital. Stonelake Corp is a Platinum sponsor of the Dunedin Supper Club and actively involved in the annual event.
Stonelake Corp are also proud sponsors of many sporting, cultural and health related sponsorships throughout the Dunedin community.
The Stonelake Foundation’s partnership with the Highlanders supports local charities and community groups fundraising efforts.
Justin and Eterei’s passion for Dunedin and the wider Southland communities provide the driving force to give back, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Justin Stonelake grew up with McDonald’s and decided, after working part-time in a restaurant, that it was ‘totally me”. He worked his way up from being a crew member to later spending five years working in the company’s head office before being approached to become a franchisee in 2007, operating three restaurants in Northland with his wife Eterei.
After five years up North, in 2012 they were approached to head down South and explore the opportunities in Dunedin. That was when their next adventure began. Despite the big move, he and his wife admitted they fell in love with the city.
The couple have a young family and were impressed with the schooling in the area and unbelievable sporting facilities but, most of all, they were overwhelmed by the friendly people.
To run a successful franchise, is a lot of hard work but also very rewarding. Their efforts have been acknowledged with a string of awards. Most recently in April 2018 winning the globally highly contested Fred Turner Golden Arch Award and NZ Supreme Marketing Award and for a third time, Owner Operators of the Year.
Now employing over 200 staff across the stores adds to the complexity to their business, as does being open 24 hours a day, every day, but one they wouldn’t change.
Watching their team learn and grow professional and personally combined with having the ability to support a charity that is very dear to them – Ronald McDonald House Charities, is extremely rewarding.
To date the Stonelake Corp group of McDonald’s restaurants in Dunedin have raised in excess of two million dollars to support Kiwi families by supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities in providing emotional, financial and practical assistance for families with hospitalised children through the provision of accommodation and wider support programmes.
